DNA of Abkhazians and the Western Caucasus

One of the most complex issues in modern history remains determining the degree of kinship among the peoples of the Caucasus. This anthropogenetic study will allow us to take another step toward solving this problem, relying on a broad base of genetic research, particularly Y-chromosome markers, which are currently among the most informative and widely studied genetic markers in world science for reconstructing the kinship of peoples.

Independent Abkhazia in an Ethnogenetic Context

In the following article, I intend to share my own opinion about Abkhazia and the Abkhazians, as well as to bring more clarity to the issue of self-identification in its general understanding. Being the son of an Abkhazian and a Megrelian, with Gurians, Russians and Germans in my lineage, until a certain age, when asked about my nationality, I would answer either Abkhazian or half Abkhazian and half Megrelian. Today I understand the difference between the concepts of nationality, cultural affiliation, state interests, ancestral lines, as well as ancient anthropogenetic lines, etc. Therefore, to the above question, I could answer in more detail: from the Arshba clan; by nationality and culture — Abkhazian; homeland — Abkhazia; I consider my state to be that which is governed by people who help me and my family live with dignity; Balkan-Caucasian race, part of the large Caucasoid race, probably Alpine or Caucasoid type with admixtures; possibly a West Asian or Mesopotamian cluster of Y-chromosome haplogroups and mitochondrial DNA. This is the approach that will be discussed further.
