Etruscans — an ancient people who inhabited the northwestern Apennine Peninsula (the region — ancient Etruria, modern Tuscany) between the Arno and Tiber rivers in the 1st millennium BC, and created a developed culture that preceded the Roman one and had a great influence on it. Ancient authors attribute an Asia Minor origin to the Etruscans. In the 2nd-1st centuries BC, the Etruscans spread to the north and south. The Etruscans had developed cattle breeding, high metalworking techniques, and ceramic art. The Romans borrowed symbols of power from the Etruscans and learned construction and irrigation techniques from them.

The Etruscans, who migrated from Anatolia or some Aegean islands, settled in Italy (Tuscany) and brought with them haplogroups E1b1b, G2a, J2, and R1b-L23. [Maciamo Hay 2008]

Mitochondrial DNA of the Etruscans
The urban culture of the Etruscans preceded the rise of Rome. The Etruscans were among the non-Indo-European peoples. Their culture developed in northern and central Italy around 800 BC. Etruscan civilization flourished in Tuscany and the Po Valley until the arrival of the Gauls and the rise of the Roman Republic. The Romans assimilated the Etruscans around 500 BC. The origin of the Etruscans is controversial. In the fifth century BC, the Greek historian Herodotus believed that the ancestors of the Etruscans originated from a colony of Lydians from Anatolia (Turkey). (Herodotus, History (c. 430 BC) - here Herodotus conveys the oldest account of the Etruscan migration to Italy. Even during the Roman Republic, when the Etruscan language still existed, their Asia Minor origin was considered universally recognized.). Other ancient historians held different views. According to Dionysius of Halicarnassus (1st century BC), the Etruscans were indigenous to Italy.

Herodotus' claim of Lydian origin has been controversial from the start, but is currently supported based on genetic studies. A number of studies have shown a higher level of Y-DNA haplogroup G in Tuscany in support of the Anatolian origin theory. Studies of mitochondrial DNA in modern Tuscans and ancient Etruscans also indicate a Near Eastern origin. Archaeology and DNA studies of Tuscan cattle breeds suggest that the Etruscans arrived in Italy around 1200 BC.
